Linda and I were talking about how the closest Walmart to her is 65 miles. I punched that number into the Walmart website and it calculated that I can go to 36 different Walmart stores within a 65 mile radius. That is kinda scary...

I suppose me going to the site and figuring that stat out is too.

I wouldn't do well living so far away from everything. LOL How do you do it??? LOL I'd never get anywhere if I had to drive those distances to get there. I never realized how spoiled I was... everything is within a few miles from me. Wal Mart is about a 15 to 20 minute drive and if I go in the other direction there is another one about the same distance away. LOL It's not unusual for us to have two or three of the same stores/restaurants within a few miles from each other. I guess I should consider myself lucky... :)

Yes you should consider yourself lucky.... Mac Donalds is the only place in town fast food wise and If I want KFC I have to drive over an hour, same for burger king....well maybe 45 minutes, but come on....Wal mart is far and Kmart too....we don't even have a mall that isn't 50 minutes out...then i might as well drive to Syracuse to the Carosel Mall and spend the day...LOL....I do mis having things closer, but I love living in my own little world.....

I'd want the best of both worlds... LOL I'd simply DIE if I had to drive those distances. LOL All of our fast food restaurants are practically right across the street from each other. KFC is right next to Burger King... they practically share parking lots. Across the street from BK is Taco Bell and next to that is Wendy's. A bit down the street is McDonalds and Arby's... then Perkins and Applebee's. That's probably why we end up eating out more than we probably should. We are also SO overrun with Pizza delivery places... I think about 8 just in our small community, maybe more. LOL I wish they had a few more family style restaurants instead of all the fast food but if we drive north about 15 miles there are a TON of restaurants to choose from. We never lack someplace to go and seeing I work out of my house all day... by the end of the day I'm just itching to get out. LOL I think it would take a lot of getting use to if I had to go without. LOL

As far a resturants, I really thought we would have more of a choice but i was so wrong, and I thought as we moved, oh we'll probably get great italian food out there but the chinese food won't be so hot, I was so wrong...our chinese place is awsome, they won't deliver but they are sooo good.. The Pizza places here in our town, Are the WORST....they will deliver but I would rather eat shoeleather....when we are really in the mood to eat out we usually make an adventure of it...and drive to the city to my SIL beaus work, he's a chef and makes us the best italian food around.

We have a WalMart, Shopko, Target and KMart in town - all within a few blocks of each other. My hometown is smaller than here and they just got a Super WalMart.
We live in a good size town so we have a good amount of options here. My biggest food concern of the moment is not getting pizza delivery at my new house!! Pretty pathetic, aren't I?? LOL!

I can relate RCT! We live on a farm, but the nearest town (7 miles away) has a population of 2500. I was telling Jeff last night when we were chatting that we just got a McDonalds 6 years ago.

We do have an Alco (about 8 years ago) but people here are not really open to new businesses coming in.

I'm so sick of driving to night class every week, but I LOVE getting to shop at Walmart every week. However, I do know that if we lived closer, I'd spend way too much money!!

We have Pizza Hut, Subway, and McDonalds for eating places, along with a Veterans and Elks clubs, 2 drive ins, a diner and a steak house. Not really any kind of fancy dining to be done around here! LOL

Oh Linda I totally relate to spending way too much if I were closer to Superwalmart.....my SIL and I call WalMart the $50 dollar store because I can't seem to get out of there without spending at least that much...LOL  I love small town life, just miss big town food.....oh well....it is kinda fun to find a place to eat, we also have a drive in and it opens tonight, I think next week we will try to take the kids....

Well I didn't see a way to request a 65 mile radius, but I did find out that there are 47 Wal-Mart stores within 50 miles of me!

My neighbor and I go to our SuperWalmart together once a week. We just love to go at night (wo/dk's) and walk around and look. Can you tell we don't get out much???? LOL Sam's Club is the $50 store for me.

TXmom Well I didn't see a way to request a 65 mile radius, but I did find out that there are 47 Wal-Mart stores within 50 miles of me!

What I did was to request a 25 mile radius. Once it returned the data, I went to the Address line, found the 25, and changed it to 65.

I had a major success moment at Walmart the other night. I stopped in for 2 things, and walked out with ....2 things!!! Maybe I should always shop when I'm on the way home from work, too exhausted to see and anxious to get home. But I'm afraid they'd go out of business....LOL

WOW! Cathy..that is an accomplishment!!! Could you teach me? I don't think the exhaustion thing would work, there is something in the air at WalMart and Target that just revitalizes me!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't had a real Walmart since I have been in Germany. I am so looking forward to getting home and getting to be near one again. Even if it is 65 miles away. At least there will be one for me to go to. LOL!!!:)

I've been through not having anything nearby and hated it! It actually costed me more money because I found myself buying things *just incase*. At the time I was stationed in AZ (at a field not a base) and we were really excited when they got a McDonald's. Prior to that there was a Pizza Hut about 30 minutes away and the nearest anything else was over 60 miles away. I'm talking any kind of store. We joked that my DS was nearly born at a strip club because that was the only building on a road from us to the hospital 65 miles away!

now I've got everything within 1 15 mile radius and I still have a field in the back yard!

BTW, I did the WalMart website thingy about a year ago. Sounds like there's a group of us!

Okay, I have a correction to make. I just went to the Walmart site, punched in my zip code to find a store near me. The nearest store is actually 54 miles. I think it listed 5 in my area. The furthest listed is 83 miles.

54 miles is still TOO far for me!

Someone posted about going at night w/o the kids. I love doing that, but the SuperWalmart I go to, they wax floors and buff floors late at night. The noise gives me a headache after a while and it's frustrating to not be able to get to some aisles I want to.

Ya'll got me curious, so I checked....there are 5 within a 7 mile radius of my house!!!!! LOL
I just love big cities!!!!!

Geeze Ann... you can shop at any Wal Mart and hardly leave your neighborhood. LOL Got me curious too, so I went in and checked... I have five near me... the farthest one being 15 miles away. I don't think that's too bad either. :)

Got my curiousity going now, too. :) I have 5 within a 40 mile radius - the closest less than 5 miles away and the others btwn 27-40.
