View Full Version : I'm Getting Back on Track
Today is the day where I start eating less and hitting the exercise trail. I don't have much solidified yet as far as a plan. I have decided on getting up at 4:25am everyday and I am signing up today for a 1/2 marathon in may. I am going to sign up for a run this month and one next month. My first goal is to be able to run for 30 minutes. After that I will work a little on distance and a lot on speed. Runner's world has a 10 week plan after which one can be running. I think in two weeks or less I can be back to running 30 minutes so I am going to use the plan to get my time down to running 30 minutes in ten weeks at under a 9 minute mile pace. Then I will repeat it for another 10 weeks to get under an 8 minute pace. I will start in mid Jan to start working on distance. I will weigh less and have stonger bones and more muscle mass by then. I do think I will probably be rather grumpy today!
A friend of mine used that program to train for the Houston Marathon.
I need to get back on track too. I have lots weight since my surgery, but haven't exercised at all. I have lost so much flexibility it's not funny. May blow the dust off the treadmill and get started today.

It must be the "back on track day". I went to the chiropractor today and I'm starting my yoga up again today. I don't have any weight to loose, but gosh do I need to stretch and get limber again so my back and hip don't hurt so much anymore.
I'd never been to a chiropractor before but he said he could help loosen my spine that is tight due to my scoliosis and part of the spine is trying to overcomensate for the part that is curved. It's a little freaky when someone makes your spine crack though!!!!
well I ran two miles, did the elliptical machine for 20 minutes, walked for 30 minutes and did two sets of 50 each on upper body weights (set the weights to half the normal weight). I am a huge grouch and its less than 10 hours before I am back at the club.
Think I am going to go veg for an hour then call it a night.
Ann - did you make it on the treadmill
And finally a Have you ever noticed....
Have you ever noticed that noone ever says that extra weight you have been carrying for years really isn't healthy, but if you lose a few pounds quickly everyone is telling you how unhealthy it is to lose more than x amount in y time. Granted neither is a good thing but geeeezzzzz!
Good for you Jeff!
No
Yes, except they don't really say that to women..double standard!
To say I'm going to get back on my treadmil would be a lie so I won't go there. But I should.
Linda, I understand about the cracking. I went one time to a chiropractor and he talked about "cracking" me. I told him that was the very terminology that made me nervous. I never went back. Think it made my back hurt worse.

Jeff - I'm glad to see you going for the mini! Brichard wants to run the Chicago marathon next year...we'll see.
Ok, as for my the excercise has been crappy since the weather got cold and I stopped walking in the mornings. I have however taken off 44 pounds so far this year. I have gotten rid of all my "fat clothes" and only have a few things I can wear which are also feeling big. I feel good about my weight, but can't wait to take more off.
So, here I am, tooting my own horn!! toot toot!
