Who has gotten a mammogram?

My OB wants me to get a mammogram as a baseline precaution. I'm scheduled for December, but wondered who else them yearly and at what age did you start?

having my first one this year, schedualed for Jan. 2004 I too need a base line, since I am adopted and have no medical history....age 37

EVERYONE should get a baseline by the age of 35 unless you have a medical history or a reason to do it sooner. Usually it's every 5 years, then every year after the age of 40.
I started having them at age 30 because I had fibrocystic breasts. It is such not a big deal that I am even embarrassed that I ever hesitated. A pap is more uncomfortable!

I haven't, but probably should. I'm adopted too and only know 1/2 of my family health history. If I'm not mistaken breast cancer runs in the family.

Haven't had one yet. Just had my yearly physical last week and to be honest I never thought to bring it up - just figured I'd have one closer to 35...

I had one done approx 7 years ago...due to such a size difference in the two! :lol: Haven't had one done since...and things have even out somewhat! :lol:

Ladies..if you are 35 or over..go get it done!!! It is no big deal, takes a few minutes (you wait longer for your turn!). If you aren't, I hope you are all doing monthly self exams. I have two women in my neighborhood who are dealing with breast cancer right now. One had a masectomy and the other a lumpectomy..they are younger than me!

Had my first one two years ago, scheduled for another in the new year. It's not as bad or painful as some people make it out to be.
