Is there a way to set up an auto-response message through Outlook?
I thought I'd try one while I'm gone just for the heck of it.
Go to Tools, Message Rules, Mail..
#1. click on all messages
#2. reply with message
#3. type in whatever message you want
#4. name the rule
click on ok

Thanks!
does that work automatically or does your system have to pull the messages from your isp server?
I am not sure what you are asking, Jeff.
i don't understand how outlook can do an autoresponse unless you are connected to the internet 24/7. Is there a way?
It would work just like it does with any messages you receive. I haven't done auto response, but I have used the message tools for other features and it would do it when I opened outlook express.
Sounds like we are thinking along the same lines. You have to bring the messages off the server (ie open up outlook) before the rule will be activated.
Oh..I see what you are saying. No, I don't think you have to download the messages for it to then send out a notice saying you aren't there, that would defeat the purpose, don't you think? I have received "out of office" notices, and the people haven't been there. Not sure of the why. Try it! LOL
