I have finally come to the conclusion that I have let 5 years slip by with promises to myself I was going to take off the last 10 lbs of baby weight from ds. I was on the scale yesterday and now I have to lose 13lbs! It just dawned on me that if I don't take this seriously and permanently, then I will continue to creep weight on as I get older and I will wake up one day and be very over weight (this happened to my Mom over the years). I SO don't want that to happen to me and need to realize I can't play head games with myself anymore. You should have seen me today when I really wanted a brownie. In my head I was telling myself that I would have dessert now and just exercise it off at work. Yeah right! I'm amazed on how easily I will sabotage myself for that one moment of weakness. Thankfully, I didn't do it, but made me realize I have to break a lot of tricks I use to excuse myself from eating everything I want.

okay...I'm off my soap box now.... LOL

I'm right there with you! I have been doing really well since August - lost the weight I really wanted to and got back to where I was when I got married. Since the holidays I think I have gained again and slipped back into thinking I can eat this and that here and there. :\ Today has been a bad day and I need to get a grip! LOL! I think I do some of the same tricks as you and try to convince myself that the food of the moment I am after won't really make a difference.

I'm raising my hand too :o I keep saying that those extra 10 pounds will disappear by themselves...but they don't

I start doing my pilates videos every day during the holidays...now I just have to keep it up

I am the exact same way, Amy, when it comes to "talking myself into eating something" and it doesn't take much talking, lol...just justifying why I eat the things I do. And on that note, I just did 25 minutes and 5 km on my eliptcal (pats self on back).

I need and want to get healthier!!! My favorite thing to do is walk... very hard to do in AK in the winter. Since we are moving soon it's a no brainer that I will start doing that again after we move.

I'm going to check with the gym here on base, but I think I can go walk around the basketball court. Not exciting, but it works and I can do it while the kids are in school now that I don't have dck's. It's even close enough to my house that I can walk if I had to since we are down to one vehicle. They do have quite a few treadmills, but you have to get there at just the right time to actually get one.

re committed myself before the first of the year...I am jogging/walking three miles a day 5 to 6 days a week...feel great...dh and I are eating healthier too....more veggies, and no salt or sugar. I think your totally correct in thinking that the pounds will just keep adding on with each passing year, and how scary is that...we have the power!

HERE IS TO THE HEALTHIER US IN 2004
