Pediatrician or Family Doctor?

Which one does your child go to? Dk's Ped. are located across the city and is a pain to go to. I have gone to a local family doctor and I really liked him, but don't know if he would be as appropriate for a young child or not.

Family Dr..I have been thinking about taking DS#3 to a ped though, but I am not sure if I can without a referal.

We don't have a choice in our town. Family doctors for everyone. The only way the kids see a pediatrician is with a referral from our family dr. Our closest ped. is a 1.5 hour drive away.

Oldest ds regularly saw ped and cardilologist, youngest saw ped until he was about 3 (feeding issues), but since then has just used the family doctor. We have no ped in town so had to travel 30 miles away.
