We say dinner..sometimes supper.

I know some people call lunch, dinner and the evening meal supper.

We had this discussion at our workshop the other day. We were talking about it confusing children, and I didn't realize until then the different ways people do it.

We call our evening meals supper. We call the week day noon meals lunch, except the Sunday noon meal (generally when there is a lot of family around) is called dinner.

I grew up with supper but my mil called it dinner and it rubbed off on me. Now I say both. "kids, supper is ready" and "quit goofing off and eat your dinner". LOL

Both! Trying to figure this one out always gives me a headache, lol! I think the big meal is dinner whether it's at noon or evening. Supper is the meal when it's small and eaten in the evening! :crazyroll My grandmother used to harp on me when I'd call one of her dinners "supper"!

Anyway, I think I'm still confused and use them interchangeably!

evening meal was supper...
moved up north and they were always telling me NO ITS DINNER..
but found some of them calling lunch dinner also ... hmmmm that was confusing.. lololol

So when we were invited for DINNER would ask : And WHAT time is that meal ?? they thought I was weird .. lolol

So guess it depends on where your at and iffen ya talking to transplants.. lolololol

That's how it is with some folks around here, but mainly just on Sunday.

We call it dinner, though.

Both, I guess. I usually say, "Supper's ready!" "Eat your dinner." "Clear your dinner dishes." "What's for supper?"

LOL
