I think we had (or have) the downloader.trojan :\

One message I got in Norton's review was "removal failed" and the next was "access denied". So, does that mean, access to get rid of the virus or access to my files by the virus? (Am I making sense?) I keep Norton's up to date and when I got the warning I updated Norton's again, re-scanned my computer and nothing showed up, but I keep thinking it could still be on here somewhere - is that possible or would Norton's for sure get it no matter where it was??

Also, I have gotten 3 Mail Delivery Failed emails in the past couple of days. I do not open them, but I can see that they were supposedly sent my me to one of my brother's old old old email addys that I have never even had on this computer. Also saw part of an addy on there from drake.edu - so, is it from that person's computer?

Can anyone help me? I hate being so clueless - these darn viruses just freak me out!! :nervous:

Run this http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ it's a free scanner that is really good.
what operating system do you have? I know with ME you have to disable the system restore option before you run a virus scan to get a clean one.

i get alerts like that all the time...some one who had me in their address book has someone, who has someone, who has someone with a virus. just delete them.

Thanks Ann -

We have XP and for that I disabled the System Restore and had my computer in Safe Mode. Maybe I am just paranoid. LOL I'll try that link.

That's what I thought - thanks!

While speaking of virus's ... there is a trojen out there that is called :

COOLWEBSEARCH

One of the ladies in our chat room got it while doing a websearch for something.
She ended up going to : http://www.kaspersky.com and used their trial version to get rid of it.
She said it did an even more complete job than even norton did.
But if you get that one. It keeps you from going anywhere on any site. It kept her from even coming to our site.

But she said that her norton was also updated but for some reason did NOT catch this virus.
Anyways hope this helps ya too...
see yaa...
