Well, I've taken most of the week off from running just to heal from my 10 mile run on Sunday. But... I really wasn't that out of gas last Sunday and I'm looking forward to finishing tomorrow. I just hope it is cooler this year and I believe it will be. They are starting an hour earlier this year which will help immensely.

From the Movie Biloxi Blues with Matthew Broderick:

"They didn't tell me it was going to be this hot! This is Africa hot! Tarzan couldn't take this kind of hot!" :crazyroll:

Believe it or not, I'm already getting a little nervous about it! I've been like this since a kid. Any sporting event and I start getting anxious and excited.

It was so bad last year that I barely slept the night before.

I'm not even racing to be competetive, so I'm not sure why the butterflies are there, but... ah well. Might as well just roll with it.

We both did it! :bounce:

Angie R walked the 5 K and I ran the whole 13.1 miles.

I have mixed emotions.

First and foremost I wanted to finish, and I'm very happy about that. But... I wasn't exactly setting the course on fire.

You see there are several classes of runners listed below in order.

Kenyans
Professionals
Amateurs
Weekend Warriors
Pond Water
Brichard
Walkers

lol!

I had 3 main physical goals this year.

1. Bench Press 300 pounds. (I'm at 275 now)
2. Run the Mini Marathon.
3. Reduce the waist size by four inches.

I've completed number 2, and I feel like number 1 will happen sooner rather then later. My twin brother did it last year, so now I've just got to do it! :)

But the waist is staying the same. It isn't growing, but it isn't shrinking either. I lost about 40 pounds by following the Oprah Winfrey book Make the Connection about 3 years ago and kept it off for about 2 years. But I've put all those pounds back on. I thought by doing the mini and weights that I'd start to lose the fat this year, but apparently I'm losing it in the kitchen.

Oh well, one day I'll post how I lost 40 pounds again!

Anyway, it feels great. I only made it about 8 miles last year before I had to walk, and I made it the whole way without walking this year. Improvement is always good.

My uncle makes me sick. He is 60+ and finished in about an hour and 50 minutes while it took me about 2 and a half hours! He is in such great shape. He is alot of fun.

How'd you do Jeff? We want to know!

Its a good thing I don't type with my legs. Ouch! :D

Congrats to both of you!!!!

I am somewhere between you and the walkers, but I feel like pond water. I did the first 10 in under 2 hours then just quit and walked the rest of the way. Well I did sprint the last 1/4 mile hahaha. Couldn't walk across the finishline. I would not have made it even ten if it hadn't been for all the fans at the side of the road. The kids were great..waiting for the high fives. They were great!
