Hi, I was just curious as to what curriculum the homeschoolers here use and what are some to the great books you've read, etc.
I have been using KONOS unit studies which are great!!
Our units are based on character traits. For example, we are working on the trait of Attentiveness and it is just so cool what all falls under this unit.
Study of the ear, eye (which we will be dissecting a cow's eye - yuck!)
Our five senses.
Helen Keller, Annie Sullivan
Famous Composers
and the list goes on.
We watched Beethoven Lives Upstairs - awsome video about Beethoven.
Also wathced The Miracle Worker after reading several books about Hellen Keller and Annie Sullivan.
The kids are also learning to name different symphonies.
We are using Saxon Math, English for the Thoughtful Child and some Learning Language Arts through Literature.
I am not real big on workbooks - so unit studies work really well for us - do lots of hands on stuff.
I do write my own units too. I did this when I was teaching in the school.
Ok, I look foward to seeing what everyone else uses and likes. I love it when someone finds something good and passes the advice along.
