Waiting for doctor to call me back

Here I sit, waiting. Ds2 came home at lunch with a very bad headache. Gave him Advil, kind that is supposed to last for 6-8 hours. At 6 I game him Tylenol because the pain never left. That was at 7. His head is still hurting. He was running a fever. It was at 38.8, then down to 38. 3 and now it's finally, in the last hour, no longer a fever. Sound/movement hurt his head but not light. No throwing up. So, with a fever, is it still a migrane? Virus? Should I take him to the outpatients to get checked? So,am waiting for his doctor to call me back.
    Hope she calls soon.

Side vent: The receptionist, as far as I know, is not a nurse. She can be real nosy. I just called and asked if dr. could call me back. Her: what's it in regards to? I give a little info, not much. She digs for more. So I tell a little more. Then she wants to know all the questions I have. Well, here's a thought, have the DOCTOR call me back!!! I hope they don't have the receptionist call me back with answers 'cause I'll have to bug the dr. herself on her pager. I want reassurance that I shouldn't be running off to the childrens hospital right now. Ugh.
Am I over worrying? I hope so.

She just called me back. Not exactly normal, any sign he's worse then bring him in. She's going to call in the am to see how he is. Keep him comfortable but if he's worse at all in any way then off to hospital. Could be a migrane or a virus. I hope it goes soon.

Poor ds, I hope it goes away soon and a trip to the hsp isn't necessary. Sending well wishes your way!

    What a long worrisome night.
His fever is still up and down and so is the pain. He woke at 3:30 for a drink. Said his pain was mostly gone but his fever was way up, at 39.3! Gave him tylenol, the advil doens't seem to be working for him but I need it to alternate. He had the advil that is supposed to last 6-8 hours and that's what his temp was after 5. It did go back down. His head still hurts but not as much, now has sore throat. He had buzzing in his left ear twice and not since last night. So, I am thinking ear infection. Hopefully nothing more.
His doctor called me this morn. to check on him (isn't that great?!) and will see him in a while.
Thanks for the well wishes and prayers.

    Hope he's feeling better.

Don't you love Dr's Who really care...My old doctor use to check up on me after I got the Flu while visiting family and I ended up in ER because of asthma....He called me at work every 2 days to check how I sounded...I miss that. But my current Dr is almost as good.

We're back home. He has strep throat. Very cool that you don't have to wait days for the test results anymore, they do it right there in the office.
So, he's got some anti-biotics and should on the mend in the next couple of days.
I was so worried, you never know with a severe headache what it could be and meningitis kept popping into my mind. I kept asking him to move his neck and asking him if it felt stiff. That and the apendicts (sp) scare me the most. Two of my brothers had theirs burst and one had to be cut before being sedated. Nearly lost him.
Vea, it is great to have drs that care. This isn't the first time she's called to check on the kids like that to see how the night went. Lucky me, because she was going on holidays after today and I would have had to go through the clinic if she didn't suggest seeing him.

Glad it's just strep and nothing worse. Now he'll be able to enjoy Disney on Ice.
