Do you have a favorite painting?

I was surfing looking at paintings. My favorite artist has always been Monet but I like this one by Renoir. I would love a reproduction in my living room. It has all the right colors. I really don't have any, either I see what I like but can't afford it at the time or I don't see anything I like. I saw some really pretty still lifes too. I was given a nice painting not long ago and want to put it in the hallway near the bathroom once we renovate the hall. Do you all have art work in your house?

My favorite artist is G. Harvey, a Texas artist. Specifically, his street and landscape scenes. I only have 1 artist proof of his right now, but I'm planning on purchasing a few more. Here are the ones I really like:

    A Nation Blessed
    Old Westminister Flower Shop
    New England Harbor
    In God We Trust
    Flower Shop

I have many, but these came to mind: I have a framed print of Le Printemps by Pierre Auguste Cot hanging in my bedroom. And also I love The Storm by the same artist. I also like The Singing Butler by Jack Vetrianno and The Accolade, 1901 by Edmund Blair-Leighton. I also have a signed oil transfer of Evening at Swanbrook Cottage by Thomas Kinkade, but I bought that before his prints were everywhere and on everything...still like him, but kind of been saturated with his work.

Beth, I love those of the flower shops. I like the one of the harbour too. I'm such a water/beach baby so I love prints of piers, harbours, beaches.
Mickey, I love Kinkade too but felt I saw too much of his stuff.
I did more surfing last night and saw some gorgeous stuff of harbours/beaches. I would love to have a library some day filled with different paintings framed all over one wall. The other three of course being books top to bottom.

Beth, I have a funny store for you. We were at the Junior League of Plano's big dinner dance and auction about 20 years ago. They were doing alot of cool artwork in the silent auction. DH calls me over and says 'look at this picture'. I look it's a lovely painting, kind of western. 'I want this cowboy painting' uh, where will you hang it? 'in my den' we don't have a den. 'we will someday and I want this cowboy painting' He buys the painting for $150, i am ticked cause it's not even framed! It gets put up and forgotten till about 5 years later when we moved. I discover it and decide to get it framed. I take it in and the framer goes ballistic....where did you get this? how did you get this????? I ask what the big deal is and he says you don't know what this is?
uh no.....this is an original artist proof G. Harvey!
dh was so proud of his cowboy pic!!!

We have quite a bit of art in our house. Some watercolors from a women in Jacksonville, Florida named Rebecca Bates. And quite a few oils from various artists.

My favorite painting is my inheritance I received from my mother. It's an oil painting of two little girls. It hung in my parents home for years and everyone always joked that it was a pic of my cousin in me. Then we we got dd, everyone was blown away by how much one of the little girls looked like her!

I don't have anything original in my house, but I do love Van Gogh's Cafe Terrace on the Place du Forum, Arles, at Night, The which I have a poster of hanging in a hallway and there's a few by Matisse that I like, including La Musique .

The harbor painting reminds me of our trip we took to Camden, Maine a few years back. We had THE best time. I can't wait to go back. If I ever have the chance to build a small vacation home, that's where I'd build it.

    He's very proud of himself.
I tried to find it in his catalog, but it wasn't there. I don't know if that means he doesn't reproduce it anymore or what?????
