    Smile Update on Fil

    He's home. His count was steadily improving and was up to 68 so they let him go home. They will do another blood test next week to make sure that it's still going up. Still not sure what the cause is, I don't get why they didn't do some tests on his spleen.

    Thank you all for the prayers and support. It really did mean a lot. I was terrified. You all are the best!

    From what we could gather with this kind of low count, yes. A medical site on platelets said that they should be looking at the spleen,in some cases it may need to be removed. Not something I would want my fil to go through but you would think they would be looking at the cause of this problem, not just a fix so there aren't further problems later. One thing they did say was steriods bringing the count back up, which they are and of course that's good but I don't understand why they still don't know the cause. Maybe I'm just being paranoid but I don't want him to go through this again. I don't know but maybe he will take these steriods for the rest of his life to keep the count up. I'm just relieved that they are going up again. It was scary some of the stuff that could go wrong.
