    Another Valentine's question...

Dh & I werre just talking about V's Day last night - he thinks his best friend is going to propose on V's Day and I told him she'll be expecting that and he should surprise her before that! That's just me though - I'd want to be totally surprised and caught off guard and not fall into the hype of Valentine's Day. So, who's with me on this LOL and who's all into the romance of a Valentine's proposal and think I'm nuts*? (* only nuts because of my opinion on this though and not based on any other thread or post! )

Well, since my dh proposed three days before Valentines Day I'd say that works just fine! My mom tried to convince him to wait but he didn't listen.

I can see both sides of the arguement... maybe he should propose after to get her really riled up (if she's expecting it, lol!)
Today is a new day and a good day to start anew.

I guess it wouldn't matter to me. Were all expecting (hoping) that dd #3's bf will finally propose to her, but she doesn't care when... as long as it happens.

Dd #2's bf proposed and gave her an engagement ring a few day's (or weeks... can't remember) before Christmas because he didn't want to do it ON Christmas because he thought it wouldn't be as much of a surprise... so he sprung it on her when she wasn't expecting it. He surprised us all by doing it that way. LOL Either way... as long as the end result is the same.

Oh, do it after, that is bad bad bad!!!! LOL

I don't think you should use a holiday for a proposal, it should be a separate special moment.

I think it should be a day on it's own too. Dh was going to propose at Christmas and couldn't wait so it was end of October instead. I'm glad he surprised me out of the blue because I probably would have been expecting it that Christmas and gotten fed up and mad if he didn't. LOL

I told dbf that I did not want it on a holiday or my birthday....I want it to be a complete surprise and have it's own special day.

Dh proposed to me on Valentine's Day, but it was still a complete shock because he is not into Valentine's Day that much, so I wasn't expecting anything. LOL!

One negative I can see with proposing on a holiday or special occasion is if the relationship doesn't work out that holiday will always be scarred by that event.
Wouldn't it be nice if every time we messed up our life we could press CTRL ALT DEL and start all over??

A good friend got married on her bday....2 weeks later her dh was killed. I don't know how she ever has a bday and doesn't think about their wedding and losing him.
