    Vent

Found out ds1 has a basketball game schedueled for this Sat. morning. I'm ticked. Why would anyone be so ignorant as to plan a game for the morning of November 11th? It drives me crazy that Rememberance Day seems like such a trivial thing to so many people. I'm sure I won't have him at the game on time, the coach wants him there at 11:20 to warm up. Well, I doubt the ceromonies will be over by then as the moment of silence is at 11. The game starts at 11:45. He may make it but we'll see. Normally the kids are all in school for assembly during that time but if it's on a weekend I make sure they come with me to the ceromonies. Of course the game is a good 20 min. drive. I even heard the comment 'well no one goes to those anymore'. Um, that's not good! I voiced my opinion to the coach. He thinks there will be a moment of silence before the game but to me that doesn't cut it for asking so many to not show up for ceromonies being held. Maybe I'm just touchy about it but it seems like it's something that people are missing the point of.
    Thanks for the vent.

Mel, I completely understand your vent. I feel exactly the same way as you. Tomorrow ds is scheduled to work 10-2, but I've reminded him several times to take a moment of silence @ 11 a.m. The three of us are going for breakfast downtown, then dh will drive ds to work and come back to meet me to attend the ceremonies at our arena. It's always a special time of remembrance for me, since my Dad is a WWII vet and most years I'll take the morning off to attend the city's ceremonies as opposed to the university's. And it always seems in the last few years my Dad has spend this day in the hospital. This year being no exception (and I don't mean the home he lives in). I will visit him after the ceremonies.

Yes, he went in a couple of weeks ago due to a blood clot in his lung. The clot is gone now, thank goodness, but now his blood is too thin and they have to regulate that. They also arranged for a colonoscopy while he's there as well. I am anxious for him to get back to the home so he can resume a normal life again.

Glad the clot is gone. My dad has gone through having his blood regulated because of clots as well. I know how scary it can be. (((hugs)))

(((BEV))) I'm so sorry to hear that your dad is in the hospital. I'm sure he's probably very anxious to get out and back home again too. That two weeks can feel like an eternity... I too am glad that the clot is gone.

Oh how scary! And painful, I'd imagine. My sister had one and she felt like she was having a heart attack.

Is the hospital near your house Bev, or do you have to drive a way to get there? Hope he's getting better by the day and will be home real soon. I'll be keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.
