dn birthday

dn will be two in Oct. Any ideas for birthday themes? It's been so long since I've had to plan for a little boy. He loves his tonka trucks, all animals, his raggedy old teddy bear typical little boy things.
We had been thinking the petting zoo, but found out it closes the beginning of Sept.

What a fun age. I can't remember what I did for dks at that age. Maybe Sesame Street? Let me think and get back to you, although I'm sure someone else here will have some fun ideas.

How is your dn doing? And, how have you adjusted since his arrival? Any updates on his gparents? Sorry, don't mean to get too sidetracked here. LOL Just hope you're all doing well. Can't imagine his loss and also can't imagine trying to pick up the pieces for a little one in that situation - feel for all of you!!

A Tonka party would be fun. There are lots of party sites that carry Tonka partyware. You could get a load of sand, put out all the trucks, etc, and that would be the party.

Bob the Builder and Thomas the Tank Engine are two theme's that come to mind. I like the Tonka idea with the sand.

Tonka would be a great theme, trucks, fire engines...Enjoy. How sweet a two year old in the house.

He has been with us almost 8 months now and seems to be well adjusted. He loves to hug, cuddle, sing and play "Ighty sheens" (Mighty Machines - his fav. tv show) He doesn't cry or ask for his parents anymore, but will smile when he sees a picture of them and say "mama" or "daddy". I think it would have been a lot harder if he had been older when it all happened. The kids just think of him as a brother.
as for his gparents...... I'm about as fed up with them as I can be. I have all but given up on them ever coming around, but dh is very good about it. We have send them numerous letters/cards etc with pictures of dn and invites to visit but they are always returned. dh has called and they hung up on him. We had a run in with the gmothers sister at the grocery store a while back, claiming we would not LET her sister see her grandchild. dh made it quite clear that was not true. We plan on sending them an invite to dn's party, but really don't expect to see them.
Mil is wonderful with him, as she is with all her grandchildren. My mom has just taken him on as another grandchild as well.
Most of the time he is just my little teddy bear. I wish I could keep him this age forever.
Thanks for the party ideas. I wouldn't have to go far for sand. We have a huge sandbox in the back yard.

So glad he is adjusting - it just breaks my heart and something I have feared since having kids. Too bad about his gparents - hopefully they will come around.
