We've got white lights on our Christmas tree because that's what the tree came with. I'd much rather have colored but we didn't have a choice.

No

5. When do you put your decorations up?

About a week or two before Christmas...

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?

The dressing but only if it's made from my dad's recipe.

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child.

Opening up my new doll. (I always loved the smell of
a new doll) LOL

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?

When my mom/dad thought we were old enough they
told us. I think my siser's all knew before they told
us though. LOL

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?

Yes... if all our dd's/sil's, granddaughter can make
it over here to open gifts that day.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree?

The lights are already in the tree so we just add some garland
and then the rest of the decorations.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? Love it!

I absolutely HATE it, not looking forward to it at all!!!


12. Can you ice skate?

Never had any when I was little so never learned. I wish I knew how though...

13. Do you remember your favorite gift?

The year when my mom/dad bought each of us kids our own
12 inch black and white tv. (I don't even think we had a colored tv back then because they were fairly new) It was nice being able to watch anything
we wanted to watch and not just what dad wanted to watch. LOL

14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you?

Getting through them... LOL jk Getting everyone together and enjoying each others company.

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert?

My mom's pumpkin or pecan pie...

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?

Making/baking something special for when everyone comes over... and spending family time together and talking about past Christmases. Oh yeah...
We usually watch the movie Christmas Vacation, with
with Chevy Chase. I Love that movie!!

18. Which do you prefer giving or Receiving?

Gosh, I'd have to say both... but probably giving more than receiving.

I don't have a real favorite... pretty much like them all but I guess Silent Night or Oh Holy Night stands out the most.

The anticipation of waiting with my dear brother down the hall until Daddy had the Movie camera and lights set up...we would just be jumping out of our skin to get into the livingroom....That and singing Christmas Carols while my brother played the piano

we have almost too many ornaments, mostly fun quirky ones, wood ones, and some glass ones....love to thread popcorn too..dh loves the red beaded garland....

Christmas Eve we watch "A Christmas Story" and "It's a wonderful Life"
Christmas Morning, ds and I make blueberry muffins, and dd and I make chocolate chip muffins....before we open presents...(Mommy sets it all up before bed so its quick)

Giving, and watching that persons reaction when its something they really wanted.

Wraps presents then puts them under the tree. Santa uses a different paper then I do. lol

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?

House lights are white, colored ones on the maple tree. Christmas tree varies, sometimes white lights if I use certain ornaments like the ones kids made. If the tree is going in the dining room, I use colored lights to go with the edible looking ornaments.

4. Do you hang mistletoe?

Not always but have.

5. When do you put your decorations up?

When I have time! Sometimes the beginning of Dec and sometimes a week or two before Christmas.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?

Turkey and stuffing, with gravy.

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child.

All of it. My parents always made Christmas Eve and Day special in every way they could.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?

I was 8 and shopping in Canadian Tire with my mom. She asked what I wanted in my stocking and got them then and there. Told me not to say anything to the boys because they didn't know.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?

Yes, it's tradition with me. Did it growing up and my brothers and I always chose the same things. From my dad's aunt, it was always new comics and chocolates and a little toy and a few other small treats. We read the comics that night in bed. And mom always made sure we opened up new pj's from her. I let the kids open from my parents every year because my mom always makes them new pj's and they match. Perfect for pics around the tree Christmas Eve and morning.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree?

Most of the ornaments I have are ones the kids made. To me those are the best ones. A couple of years I had to put the tree up in the dining room when ds3 was crawling so I got new ornaments and they are all candies and gingerbread men. Ribbon, not garland. No tinsel. I'm thinking about getting another tree to have both this year.

Dread/hate it. I want it for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. That's it.

12. Can you ice skate?

Yes. The first 2 minutes I look like Bambi on ice but once I remember how to keep my balance I'm ok. lol

13. Do you remember your favorite gift?

I loved dolls and had many favorites but I think the best one was my wooden doll cradle. I still have it and took pictures of ds3 in it.

14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you?

Spending that time with my kids and making it feel as special for them as my parents did for me. I hate the rat race visiting dh's family and cut most of it out last year and loved having that time with my own boys instead of seeing them here and there through crowds.

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert?

A toasted turkey sandwich. I'm sick!
Ok, maybe my mom's pinwheel cookies and namao bars. No real must have's though, hey if there's more turkey, I'm good!

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?

Dh reads the Night Before Christmas to the kids near the tree after they are in pj's. And of course setting out a snack for Santa. Then I keep dh up all night helping me wrap. It's exciting and peaceful at the same time.

17. What tops your tree?

A paper Angel ds2 made when he was 3. It has an upside down smile and is the sweetest angel I have ever seen.

18. Which do you prefer giving or Receiving?

Honestly, giving. I do love shopping and picking out the perfect thing for someone especially when I know it will be appreciated. Recieving is okay but I could do without. Unless it's dh giving it to me, I love when he picks my clothes!

19. What is your favorite Christmas Song?

Silent Night, even though I cry when it's played. I cannot get through it without tears on Christmas Eve. Feel dorky if we're in church but I can't help it. Sleigh ride is fun.

Usually start mid-late November... right before the towns Santa Celebration Weekend. (parade, breakfast with Santa, decration contests, caroling etc.)

The turkey dinner with all the goodies that go with it. Of course there is always the homemade fudge and candies I should really avoid but...

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child.

Sleigh riding on Christmas Eve with all my cousins.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?

I was likely about 8. I don't remember how I figured it out, but I wasn't upset by it at all. I just got up in the morning opened my gifts and said "Thank You Santa" to my parents. I still always got gifts from Santa. Santa still leaves gifts for us all at my Mom's place every year!

One gift each

10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree?

We store the tree with the lights on (big time saver) just add all the decorations. The first decoration on the tree is one I have that was special to my dad. After that whatever we get in out hands goes next.
The kids each have their own mini tree for their rooms to decorate any way they like. (excluding the two little ones - they will get one when they are a bit older)

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it?

I hate the cold... Snow is ok as long as it is not on the roads. I hate driving in it and hate my family having to drive to work/school in it.

12. Can you ice skate?

not very good. I am a pro at falling though

13. Do you remember your favorite gift?

I have got a lot of things I really loved but I guess it would be my first puppy that my parents gave me when I was about 6. She was a ****apoo, black and white, just six weeks old and had a very big red bow around her neck. Her name was Trixie.

14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you?
Being with my family.

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert?

Cheesecake or Pumpkin pie.
Snacking on shortbread cookies in between meals

Attending the midnight mass at out church

an angel with fibre optic wings that change colours around the tips. Gift from dh when we were engaged.

When Santa came to our house! My sister and I were so scared...we jumped into bed, and hid under the covers. My parents took pictures so we had "proof" that he there! LOL I still have that ole polaroid picture! Fun!

I think I was about 10 or so. My mom told me.

Yes. We open gifts from each other...as well as any that are mailed to us from out of town relatives. We only open "Santa" gifts on Christmas morning.

Tons of lights...and TONS of ornaments! Very ecclectic tree! I get a lot of ornaments as gifts...and I just love putting them on each year, and remembering the students that gave them to me.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? Hmmm...Like it?? LOL Snow is nice...it's the really cold weather I could do without!

Probably...but haven't in MANY years.

Probably the year my mom made me my own "makeup" kit! It was a plastic sewing box filled with little make-up stuff.

Giving gifts...and having time to spend with my family. I love to drive around looking at Christmas lights!

On Christmas Eve we have a "junk food" supper...and open gifts from each other. It's just our family (Me, dh and the boys) and a tradition that is now very important to my boys. Actually my mom started the tradition when I was little...and it meant alot to me then, too.
