How far do you live from the place where you grew up?

Kind of a sidebar from the "old friends" question.

I live about 2 hours from where I grew up. My mom, sister and brother still live in that town.

One hour, my first 2 kids were born in the same hospital as I was born and my mother was born. My dad's side of the family has been there like 130 years.

I live a little under 9-1/2 miles away from where I grew up. We moved in there when I had just turned 2 years old and my parents moved about a year or so after dh and I got married.

31 miles. My mothers best friend still lives in the neighborhood.
My dad sold the house in the mid 90's.
It's hard for me to go by there, both my brother and I came straight home from the hospital to that home, all those memories of our life and our childhoods. Its also where my Mother died. I wish I could have purchased it when he sold it, but we were living in New Jersey and didn't have the the money, Dad wanted $155,000 houses in that neighborhood are selling for around $550,000. Hello Orange County...who knew....

I think it's about 12 hours by plane and then another 2 hours driving!

Too far. I grew up (for the most part and the happiest part of my childhood) in Alberta and am now on the far side of Ontario. Was in southern Ont for some teen years, but I won't go there. lol No one is where we grew up in Alberta but I have a younger brother who is still in the town in south Ont. Another brother is in Saskatoon and I think he's about an 8 hour drive to the town we grew up in. So hopefully next summer we can go visit him. Our plan is to leave spouses and kids at his house for a few days and he and I take a road trip back to that town. What a hoot that would be. Wish I could say it was happening this summer but it won't.

About 2300 miles. Too far, but we have no plans to move any closer.

About 1200 miles from my childhood home. Most of my fathers extended family live in that area still. About 40 miles from my teenage home.. my mom and most family from her side still live in that area. We are surrounded my dh's family here. I love the town where my Mom lives but don't care for a lot of the people who live there. Far too nosy. Every one knows everyones business in most small towns but they take it to extreames to find out everything about everybody.
