    For those with middle schoolers....

Does your child's middle school send home classwork, quizzes and tests?

I find it very odd that my dd's school does not. We are able to check grades online so I know in what areas her grades are lacking. Not having them sent home makes it very hard to help her though. I just sent out emails to two of her teachers asking if they could send home her classwork. I'm hoping there will be no problem with this.

Just curious if this is the norm or the exception.

My son doesn't bring home graded papers either? We also have the online access though. I'll have to ask what he does with the actual work!

ahem..didn't i tell/warn you that middle school was the black hole of no information? LOL
mine usually come home with homework and/or tests but sometimes not. i find they actually do have more things in their binder than they say they do. tests sometimes take longer to get back than homework.
the parent portal (online grade check) is a godsend!!! my son even likes using it cause it takes some teachers so long to get papers back.
i just find that if i see a bad grade on the portal, i immediately email the teacher and ask what's up. half the time if i ask my kids i get a 'i don't know' anyway.

Humm.... grades online, interesting idea. We obviously don't have that here!

Dd had a grade sheet in her binder for math - all grades are recoreded there. No graded papers come home like in elementary, but she just said her tests are in her binder - I never thought they would be. If dd tells me everyday what grades she's gotten.

We're in a smaller school...but our middle school teachers send home the tests/quizzes and parents have to sign and return them. Our grades are online, too.

Our school sends everything home for parent signatures as well. Grades are not available on line, but teachers will e-mail them to you anytime if you fill out the request form at the beginning of the school year.
dd and ds have always had pretty good grades, so not too worried.

Some things are sent home, but not everything. I get progress reports sent home via e-mail through out the semester.

We have an GradeAlert.com where you log into each teachers class once an then are on email alert and can log in to your childs site and can see test and homework grades at all times.
I am up to speed on what ds is doing and not getting...it's WONDERFUL, and they use it in all the Jr. Highs and High Schools in our District.

We have the online system for most of the grades here.... I know at least 2-12, but I am not sure if they have it for pre-k-1.

How cool is that! We don't have anything online and it's like pulling teeth to get info from ds. I wonder if I take it to them will they go for that idea here? I'll try.

I love the online grade checking too! It just isn't enough for me though, if I don't have the actual classwork to go with it.

Dd's best friend has to get all quizzes and tests signed and returned too. It even factors into her grade! If they aren't signed, she will get a lesser grade. I guess it just varies from teacher to teacher.

Her two teachers happily sent home her classwork so I could see exactly where she was succeeding, and where she was having problems. I wish I had asked for them earlier.
