    Summer birthdays

Do you have a good turnout for birthdays (your kids) in the summer?
Last summer we had a hard time getting in touch with any kids ds3 knew and it was pretty iffy if they would even come. Everyone seems to have a cottage/trailer to go to or someone they know has one that they visit every weekend. Add that to vacations and it's hard to get in touch with people. The older boys even have a hard time finding their friends in the summer. My brother said it's the same thing with his kids who have summer birthdays, the last few years it was a no show for his ds's friends. So, we have both decided that our summer babies are going to have a birthday party early before school is out. Ds3 has been wanting a party with all his buddies so bad and when his real birthday comes around we can do whatever we want with just us.
Do I include the fact that we're having it early with the invitations? I know some people will be confused because they know his birthday is in the summer but I don't know them well enough that they are going to call all confused. lol How am I supposed to word it?
    Thanks for any help

i have a summer birthday and i hated it. never got to have the class sing happy birthday to you, mom never got to take cupcakes to school. people on vacation....;(

that said, never had anyone no show. dd's birthday is right around spring break so we have schedule around that. sometimes she has in feb, sometimes in april, sometimes on her birthday.
i would one at the beginning of the next school year. everyone will be excited to see one another.
if you want to say something you make a cute little like about wanting to wait to be with friends.

Dd #3's birthday is in January and she always wanted all her friends over for a pool party... so we waited and celebrated her birthday in the middle of June. I didn't make any comments about it being celebrated later... and if anyone knew, they didn't seem to care and we had a great turnout.

    Good luck with yours!!!!!

_______'s birthday is in the summer ,
and he finds it to be quite a bummer,
because no one is around to celebrate ,
his birthday on the actual date.
So this year we have decided
to try and keep him excited
by having his party before school gets out,
so he can celebrate with all his friends about.
We would be honored if you could come,
and join us for lots of fun.

Two of my boys have summer birthdays, and yes, it can be hard to get kids together for a party. I still do them in the summer, but I over invite, and make sure I get firm RSVPs. If I haven't heard from someone, I call them.

Turns out it's more common than I realized and some do a month early or late depending on when their child's b-day actually is (such as at Christmas).
Leigh that is so cute. Thanks
