    Menus for this coming week?

I just did my shopping list and this is what I have on the agenda:

orange/almond salad with homemade wonton soup

tomato soup w/ orzo with crusty bread

    Beef Bourguignon with mashed potatos

keylime chix with sweetpotato and cranberry casserole

lemon roaster chix with roasted veggies

    ruebens with something...

Is it just me or do Amy's menu's always sound so chef inspired? Like you really have to know your way around the kitchen and what flavors go with what. They always sound creative, heavenly and much more complicated than I'm willing to try. Maybe some day I will have more motivation to try something other than the ol' mashed potatoes and gravy and when I do, I'm callin' on Amy! lol

LMAO!! I HATE to cook. Remember, I was the one who used to eat out 4 times a week back in the day.

Since dh's business is so volatile with the economy, we are trying to sock away what we can for the winter season. This food is all found on recipes.com and the names sound more exotic than the work it takes to make them-TRUST ME! I always think of foods I would gravitate towards at restaurants and try to replicate it at home. I get satisfacation that I am making restaurant quality food for a lot cheaper than going out. Otherwise, I would be making hotdogs everynight out of shear boredom. LOL

Wish I were inspired these days to create a menu. I'm satisfied to cook once or twice and eat leftovers. Dh is back now though and he hates leftovers. He's working the outage at the Nuclear plant locally so he'll be home for a while.

i am always blown away that her kids will eat her dishes.
dd has become so dreadfully picky that i hate to cook. i don't adapt what i am making, but i hate to see her just eat a pb&j every night so i do try to fix things she will eat.

Dd is a foodie. She loves different things, except she is a select meat eater. She won't do beef or pork. One of the things I serve on any given night, they will eat. So if dd doesn't like the beef, then she will load up on mashed potatoes. Ds is much more picky, so I will add certain veggies he will like with the side dishes he won't touch. If I know he will hate it all, I give him crackers and cheese.

it just ticks me off when dd loads up on the taters and doesn't touch a veggie or meat.
i swear if it's not pasta or queso right now the child won't eat it. she wasn't this picky when she was a tolder! grrrr

My menu doesn't sounds as exciting as Amy's. LOL

    We are having:

    tacos with green chili rice

pork chops, mashed potatoes and green beans

    grilled chicken with salad

    hamburgers and baked beans

    Stove Top bake

That's about all I can remember at the moment, but I know we planned for more that 5 nights.

Embarassing to post after Amy's...but this would be my typical type menu (if I actually planned this far ahead!):

macaroni and cheese and hot dogs
    pizza
shredded beef with crusty bread rolls
    grilled chicken with rice
    taco salad

**Always serve fruit and/or a veggie as a side.

Doesn't sound very exciting...but that's pretty realistic for me. LOL

How do you know what to buy at the grocery store then? I would go insane if I just went in and randomly put things in my cart and figure out how to put it all together at a later date, I am not that 'with it'. LOL

do you not buy staples? i always have chicken breasts, meat, meatballs, pasta, marinara sauce, spices, frozen veggies, canned beans, soups, taco shells ect on hand for those 'i don't know what to cook' nights.
when i go to the store it's for the fresh stuff or if i have something specific in mind to cook

I have chicken breasts on hand, but that is it. We don't have many staple meals that I fix weekly. Everything is planned out so I can make sure I get the stuff I need for it.
