Has it helped you loose weight? keep in shape?

DH are going to get a 7 day pass for 24 hour fitness, and see if its something we could utilized in our lifestyle...

i have belonged to gyms off and on. the bottom line is..you have to go. if you have the discipline to go, it will work for you.
i actually love my treadmill at home.
i have heard good and bad things about 24. lots of our employees came from them. check it out.

My church has a weight room and an aerobic room. When I'm on track I use it a lot. Brichard has a Cardinal Fitness membership that he rarely uses, but he runs like crazy on our treadmill at home. He likes the gym membership because he likes to lift free weights, and used to go all the time, but got out of the habit.

I have a membership, but the bad thing is I haven't been in about 2 months. I'm determained to start next week.

I find I go steady for a few weeks then stop for a few...then I have to force myself to start again. I think it's hardest for me because I do only pool....so like now That's the last place I want to go....although it's super heated for Therapy.

Toying around with the idea of joining the Y.

My boys would like to do light weightlifting, and they like to play basketball, etc. They like to swim...and maybe try racquet ball.

Seems costly, and I want to make sure we'd use it.

Going to the gym is almost like starting a diet. You have to push beyond your lack of motivation for a couple of weeks until it becomes a habit. Then NOT going won't feel normal.

They are building a new Y here and I can't wait. I really miss it and all the great family activities when we lived in my hometown.

Sorry about not responding sooner, I know, I'm a horrible site owner. You can flog me later. I just saw the title and since I do belong to a gym and use it frequently, I figured I would give you some details.

I joined Life Time Fitness in February this year and was determined to go everyday (except Sunday.) It's more expensive than most gyms, but there was a location right next to my work, and one really close to the house. So I bit the bullet and joined.

So, I followed the work out plan in Body-for-Life to a 'T' and followed the eating plan pretty strictly and ended up dropping about 50 pounds in about 4 months. I've just been maintaining that since then. I go to the gym everyday now and mostly run. I still have about 10 pounds to go, but I like the way I look now so I'm not that focused on it.

I might be doing that soon myself. It kick started me into working out again, but I have weights and a treadmill at the house. They've just been repurposed into door stops and clothes hangers now.

oops, i meant resigned from working for them. i have been with them since last february and helped them open their newest club here. i enjoyed my job but they sort of jacked me around insurance wise.
if i could afford the club, i would join it! LOL

WOW David that is great....thanks for replying to this post.

Sadly they don't even have those gyms here...they have 24 hour fitness and LA fitness..

we've decided that we can't justify membership $$ right now especially knowing I may not find the time to get there..
Doesn't mean we aren't going to work out on our own...
