    Totally random thread

Ok, so Cheez-It's are my family's FAVORITE snack ever. I just noticed that they are over $4 a box now! I was used to paying the higher price of $2.50 a box, but 4?!!!! Dh and I agreed no more until someone comes off the price.

Lo and behold, Target had 2 boxes for $4 and change. I will go back and stock up!

Ya'll notice any of your favorite foods priced out of this world?

I have noticed that a lot of foods going up. I can't believe the prices. Now that I am sitting here though thinking about it, I can't think of any specific foods that I can name, but I know that I remember thinking the last time I was in the store that a lot of the prices had went up.

Gas has started going back up here too.

I was reading an article that the companies are getting tricky. They are keeping the packaging the same, but lowering the number of ounces inside while still charging the same price. Lays is supposed to be doing that with chips. One of the peanut butter companies has evidently made a bigger indentation in the bottom of the jar so that less peanut butter goes in the jar but it doesn't really look like a smaller serving. One of the tuna companies has changed their sizes to 5 oz from 6 but the can is still the same size.

JIF is the peanut butter company that made the indentation bigger.

They were talking on the Today show yesterday about when gas prices went up they starting raising prices on food, travel, etc. They were asking why now that gas prices have come down that groceries, etc. haven't come down. Someone said that lots of companies buy fuel in advance and may still be using more expensive fuel. Of course if the companies are making more money I'm sure they are happy about that! Just not us, lol.

I searched a bunch of sites yesterday looking at "frugal" type recipes and planning out my OAMC cooking day. I realized I use quite a few "convenience" foods and that where they get ya! I can't believe how little some people spend. I'd like too spend less, and I could in some respects, it just seems so hard.

I noticed it recently too...saw something on TV regarding the JIF peanut butter, cereal changing the oz's but not the box size....

Let's hope things settle down and prices come back down.

I noticed the prices going up too... I walked out of the grocery store yesterday with two bags, (not totally full) and spent $150.00. Of course, it didn't help that I bought/paid $16.00 for a good sized bottle of 100% Maple Syrup... I really need to be more careful about looking at the prices. You sure don't get much for your money, that's for sure...

Oh my gosh!! That would have freaked me out, too. What was the 100% pure maple syrup for?? Do you regularly use it, or something different?

I thught that for once I'd get some "good" syrup... so I look/see 100% Pure Maple Syrup. The price underneath said $6.99, so I threw it in my cart. It wasn't until I got home I saw that I had paid $16.99. Evidently someone had picked it up and put it back in the wrong place. I bought it because I was taking care of Sarah and I know how much she likes pancakes... so I bought it for her pancakes. Well... seeing it cost so much (and it IS good ) we'd better enjoy it.
