Because it was their mirror, I don't know if they knew they hit me. You would think yes because they would have been having to keep looking to check for room to go by. No they didn't stop and I didn't think to get the license. All I was thinking was 'omg why didn't they wait' and 'glad that wasn't ds' and 'glad it wasn't worse' wasn't thinking about retaliation (phoning police) or being sore later. dumb! I'm okay but it feels a little bruised.

I am so freakin' irritated! I went to pick up ds3 at school. So in front of school you have a long space where cars park to pick up kids, some park across road no matter how much/little room there is. I am there, on the side close to the school where the back of my van meets the sidewalk ending at the road. Make sense? I get ds and we wait to go by because across from me is another van and I see a truck turning the corner coming to go through us. A mom waived to me to go but didn't see the truck. Truck goes, then ds3 and I go and I get him in his booster seat. As I am doing so I get hit by a different truck going the other way! In my back! I got hit by the side mirror. I look at the truck, the mom in the van behind me and look at her like 'what was that about'? I didn't look at the licence, was in more shock than anything and was just grateful I had ds in the van and it was not his head! Between me and the other car, there was barely enough room for one vehicle to pass through so common sense would say to wait until I was in my seat with my door closed!

Ok.....sorry I read that wrong....Hope you feel better Tomorrow....Can't believe they didn't notice.

Anyhow, I call the principal to just say what happened (I couldn't tell who was driving so don't even know if it was a parent from our school or not). I say he should just put a little friendly reminder in the next school news bulletin that people should remember that the space on the road is limited during the winter and we should all use patience and care when going through. Something in general. He said he would have to think about it and think if he could put it nicely. Um, didn't I just now? Then I see the mom in the van behind me do a 3 point turn on the road behind me to go because she didn't want to go through the two vans or wait for me to drive away so she could go. Not the brightest idea with kids and snow banks but whatever. I am just ticked at the lack of patience and now with myself because it's a little more sore than I was first willing to admit and no licence number on the truck! That was just stupid of me!

Goodness. Hope everyone is OK. We have 3-4 people on duty during car rider pick up. We bring kids out to the pick-up area. Traffic is one way and once you are in line, you wait no matter how slow the process. There is no passing on either side and no turning around to get out. We take down license numbers and call the resource officer who will most likely get you before you can get to the highway.

the whole picking up process seems to be so disorganized. I'm surprised they don't have a better way so things like this don't happen.

Glad you're okay, considering that it probably could have been a LOT worse.

Yikes! I guess I skimmed and didn't realize that you personally got hit! I would call the PTA president..many time they have more power to get info out than the principal.

Hey Mel, do they have video cameras? We have cameras that should pick up everyone at some point in the pick up line even if a camera didn't catch the actual event, you'd have an idea who it was. At our school they'd be picked up as they rounded the Day Care, again at the middle school where the line breaks into 2 lines depending on where you needed to go (on to MS or to the Elem), then you'd be picked up again on camera as you got into the actual pickup area and 2-3 cars forward or back.

Thanks gals. I am feeling less bruised today and I'm sure it will just get better through the day. Kat, no videos. Since there is traffic that is public going down this street, no guarantees it was someone picking up a child from our school, could have been anyone. I know the gal who was behind me but not by name so I will ask her next week if she saw who it was.

Amy, my dd tried being a vegetarian until she realized that it didn't mean just eating pasta and mac n' cheese.

was doing an old tae bo exercise yesterday, was 25 minutes into it, did a back kick and heard snap and down i went. i think i pulled a hamstring. so i crawled, hopped into bed with an ice bag and spent the rest of the day there. am walking very gingerly today


isn't it amazing about the plane in the hudson yesterday? i was in bed watching tv when it happened. WOW what a miracle and what a great pilot.

I don't get the thing with the birds. It apparently happens more often than people realize. Why don't they put an enormous cage over the engines that birds can't fit into? Would it hinder the craft that much to have a big net sticking out? You would think with all the engineers, someone would come up with a solution. I was glad to hear everyone was safe, very good pilot!

it's more of a problem when the CANADIAN geese are migrating.

it's a huge problem. the first time i heard of it was when there was a major plane crash several years ago because of birds. the airports go through major steps to keep birds away (designated people to fire guns into the air, hawks to fly the area ect)
it's more of a problem when the CANADIAN geese are migrating.
you would think they could do the cage thing, i am not sure why they can't.

Oh that's not the only problem they create. lol
