I am climbing out of debt!

I have had two big goals this year, one was the weight loss and the other is to pay off some credit cards and increase our liquid savings. We have tightened our belts a bit, but we have also done the following:

    1. Re-financed our house. We were at 8.75% and now have 6 and 3/8. This is saving us $200 a month and I am soooo happy about that!

    2. Fed Ex called me and I start a part time job on Monday. I'll work something like 10-2 M-F. It won't be terrific, but the money for a PT job is good as well as the benefits. Also, it shouldn't interfere greatly with my family time. I'll still have weekends off and the kids are in bed by 8:00 anyway.

    3. dw is going to do some work for her father who is a real estate broker in Bloomington. She will do some research for him on the computer as he needs somebody to do that anything.

I won't do weekly updates like I do with my weight, but when I pay off one of my cards... I'll let ya' know!

10-2? Won't that interfere with your other job?

MM! I'm happy for you ! Reducing debt can be an excellent stress reliever. Are you putting the extra $200 + new job to paying down credit cards ? ßß!

Brichard - welcome to the club!! Dh took a pt job last January to pay off a loan for the new a/c and heating system we had to replace. It was $5000 and he had it paid off by May. That was such an accomplishment.
Just be careful not to wear yourself too thin - he did his ft job and then did the pt M,W, F from 5-11 pm and then 10 hours on Sat. He was like the walking dead! Once the loan was paid off, he scaled WAY back and we're socking the extra on our credit cards (he also put enough away to pay for our trip to Disney next month....)
So, good luck with it and we'll celebrate when we're out of debt!!!

Well right now I have an overdraft account (not much, under $400) and a couple of credit cards. I'm going after the overdraft account first b/c it has a higher interest rate and I want the feeling of accomplishing a short term goal!

After that I'll pick one credit card and then another. I'd like to go after our van after that. Getting rid of that van payment would be lovely, but that would be gravy.
