    Pecan Pie

All this Thanksgiving food talk has me so hungry for a pecan pie. Can you buy them frozen? What's a good brand if they do? I'm going to the store in the morning to look for one, too lazy to make one, as then I'd have to buy all the stuff for that plus that time... I just want to eat one! LOL

You can buy them frozen. I don't see them very often though. I can't give advice on the best brand. I prefer to just buy a premade one at the bakery. That's one pie I won't bake.

This year I may try a caramel apple pie.

I love pecan pie!! Unfortunately, in my family I'm the only one. So I rarely get it unless I eat out. This year dd was doing a fundraiser selling pre-made/you bake it pies. I ordered pecan (even if I have to eat the whole thing myself! LOL). Yahoo!! Now I have to hold on until it gets here...........

That caramel apple sounds good too, Lynda.

Never have had a frozen one cause pecan pies are the EASIEST pies in the world to make, especially if you get a premade shell. I sometimes add chocolate chips to the mix too!!

    Pecan Pie Family Recipe
    Ingredients:
    3 eggs, beaten
    1 cup sugar
1 cup dark Karo corn syrup
    1/2 cup pecan pieces
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    1 9-inch pie crust, unbaked
    Preparation:
Beat eggs and sugar together until thick. Add Karo, pecans, and vanilla and pour into crust. Bake in a slow oven at 300° F for 1 hour.

Go for it! Believe me, they are super easy. My mom makes dozens each year to give as gifts, so did I for a while, until I started doing the Red Velvet cakes.

    Thanks for the recipe!!

It looks so simple. I always thought that they would be harder.

Mmmmm, I love pecan pie. I have a great recipe somewhere for a chocolate pecan pie. I used to make it all the time. I think I'll have to go look for it

Wish I could have gotten on the borad this morning to get Ann's recipe. I made one about 9 years ago and forgot how easy they are to make.

Anyway, I went to Costco this morning and bought one premade- for $10.99. I'm a cheapskate but I really really wanted it. Came home and cut into the thing to have a slice (aren't I bad?) and it wasn't cooked all the way through. It was runny! UGH!!! I wasn't going to drive all the way back to Costco so I threw the @#*!@ thing in the trash!

After finally being able to long on the board for a few minutes this afternoon (before getting kicked off yet again) I saw Ann's recipe. Right after getting my kids from school we went to the store and got the few ingredients I didn't have at home. It's in the oven baking right now! I hope it's good espically after all I'm going through for it! LOL

Jen - Hope your pie turns out yummy! Pecan pie is one of my all time favs!! I would have returned the pie to Costco - the principle of the matter and waste of $$ would have killed me not to! Enjoy your homemade pie!!

I does taste wonderful. I would have gone back to Costco, but I didn't really have the time and the road on the way there was kind of bad (slippery from ice) and I slid a bit at one point, I really didn't want to brave that slippery road again either!

My dd likes it a little and my ds took one look at it and didn't even want to taste it. Does anyone want to come over and share my pecan pie? If not I'm afraid I'll either have to eat the whole thing or throw a lot of it away so that I don't eat it all! LOL

Jen, Take a slice over to your grouchy neighbor. She sounds like she can use some sweetening!! Then, you can be the bigger person, without being the larger person-if you know what I mean. LOL

Okay, the slippery road gets you out of it. That would have kept me home, too and I forgot that you are already dealing with that.
