    Talk

    Hi everyone,
My name is Marla and I live in Ontario, Canada. I just wanted to introduce myself. I work as an Early Interventionist with special needs children and their families, and I also work as preschool program instructor. I have two boys aged 5 and 8. I look forward to getting to know you all.

    Bye for now

Welcome Marla. I applaud you for your career choice. It takes a special person to do what you do. I teach Kdg. in Arkansas and tend to be a sucker for taking special needs kids being mainstreamed. Alot of teachers think these kids should be isolated in their own classrooms. That may be true for some but certainly not most. My most rewarding, though physically and emothionally draining, years have been the ones where I've welcomed a special child into my classroom. They keep you on your toes and make you a better teacher I think. I don't have any this year, but I'm sure I will be picking your brain concerning special needs in the future.

Talk It was nice to "meet" you all....

it looks like this a great place to share ideas, meet people and just talk. I can't wait to learn more about everyone. Kat thanks for your words....I think it is very true that it takes a special person to work with special needs kids. When I first started (16 years ago)... I wasn't sure that I was that type of person. Over the years I have realized that I do love working with any type of kids but the special needs children do hold a special place in my heart...they are very challenging and draining but sooooo rewarding too. I'd love to chat with you any time!!!
