My kids had this before. Its post nasal drip that is gagging them as they lie down. Try some Sudafed!

    Renee,
How is DD feeling this morning?? I hope the suggestions helped. Sounds like things that I would try.

We are in the start of our allergy season here. How troublesome they can be.
    Happy Day!!!

Renee, how's your dd today? Did she have a good night sleep?

It sounds like you got some good advice from Ann and Amy. When my kids get the night time cough (usually because of a drip), I let them sleep on 2 pillows, rub some vicks vapo-rub into their chest, and lately have been giving them children's nyquil. It usually works

Did he hear weezing? Does she have signs of asthma? They prescribed that for ds when they thought he was having croup/asthma? Be carefu..it hyped ds up something awful..after we peeled him off the ceiling, he was fine! LOL
If she doesn't have weezing, you might ask the doc for tylenol with coedine so she can sleep (if she isn't allergic)

dd does the same thing, to the point of gagging herself. She does have asthma. Her doctor has finnally given up on her because we have her on way to many meds. and she seeing a specialist next Friday. She doesn't cough now that she is on all the meds but I wouldn't recommend that. Is your dd okay in the cold? Brittany only coughs at night and she has a hard time breathing in the cold but on cough. She also never wheezes?

My ds has the same thing right now. I think I do too. Is the med your doc prescribed an antibiotic or a different kind of med. I am trying to decide the same thing about whether or not to go to the doc. We've had this for a week and the week before the boys had pink eye. I can't decide what to do. Dh thinks I overreact and to just give him a decongestant/expectorant, but he is still sick after a week... If we're not better on monday I think we will both go to the doc...

I took her back to the Peds with me when I took ds....she had a fever this time...and I told him that the abuturol wasn't helping....he percribed some Augmentum....and a cough expecterant/supperssant....she seems the same to me....less coughing at night with the heat vaporizor.....argh...I hate these colds.....Do you ever feel like had you waited another day to take them in they would have better diagonostic symptoms...LOL...argh...

My ds uses albuterol for his asthma related cough. Doesn't hype him up....and we only use it when needed (when he has a cold). I know it does "excite" some kids. It must be some type of virus going around...that includes the cough. My dh has had this stinkin' cold for 2 weeks (probably longer). Doesn't have a rattly cough...just a dry, persistent one. Went to the dr. who gave him Zithromax...(in case it was a sinus infection) and some strong cough stuff. I don't think either one did the trick....he's still coughing. It's not constant...just kind of "irritating". He says he feels fine! Wierd. Hope it goes away soon. I was teasing him that maybe he was allergic to Christmas! LOL
