Renee, I am the same age as most of the moms in ds' class, but that child is usually the last kid. We have some many friends our age who's children are graduating high school! LOL If things had gone as "planned", we would have a 9th grader and a 6th grader...I can't imagine that! LOL

I was 28 when ds1 was born, and 30 when I had ds2. Dh was 30 and 32. I'm very average aged with the moms of our kids friends. What is wierd to me is being older than alot of the parents of the kids I teach. For the longest time, I was younger than alot/most of these people. When did I become older??

I was just shy of 24 when I had my 1st, and just past 27 when I had my 3rd. I am younger than most parents of their friends, but usually not by a lot. I'm not sure that I was too young, but I did miss out on (actually 'opted out of') a carefree young adulthood. But I'll only be 45 when my youngest leaves for college. That should leave me a few years.......LOL

I am WAY older than most, if not all, parents of my students. I could be their mother!! But that's the nature of my program.

    Dh and I were both 27 for dd1, 29 for dd2.

I see two sides to the argument. On the one hand, I think the younger parents have more energy, and have youth on their side when the kids are grown and gone, to get out there and enjoy life. When I am 50 both my kids will be well on their way to lives of their own.

On the other hand, I see parents like my sister, who was 37 when her first (and only to date) baby was born, and she has all the time in the world for him. She's done the travelling, the career, the adventures, etc, she was truly ready to settle down and become a mother. The housework can wait, the job can wait, she just seems to savour every moment so completely.

I was more concerned with my babies being on a schedule, developing at a certain rate, I was concerned that my house didn't go to h*ll in a handbasket, but she knows all of that can wait, that he'll only be little once, and I think that wisdom comes only with a certain amount of life experience that younger people just don't have.

The flip side of that is when she is turing fifty, he'll be turning 13!!!!!!!!!!

That's 2 more for the "Amy's-in-commom" list!!! I was 27 when dd was born and I, too feel that I sewed all my oats (perhaps more than my fair share!!) and it was time! Given the circumstances. she was sent to save me from the lifestyle I was living... but I digress!!

My mom was 30 when she had me, and I always felt that she was too old. She's fun-loving, but not carefree... not spontaneous... I think I'm different, a little less conventional, so I don't feel like I'm too old. I keep dd guessing!! So far, most of the parents of dd's preschool kids are roughly the same age.. though most are fuddy-duddies!!!

26 with ds#1 and 28 with ds#2. Dh and I had been married for close to 3 years (had known each other for 7 yrs by then) and had done our running around, so we were ready to settle down.

I was 26 and 13 days when DS was born. For DD I was 29, nearly 30. I think the age was great. I do sometimes wish I made more use of my single years. One thing I noticed is that my PMS is lessening as I get older. If I had had my children earlier, they may not have survived!

I'm 36!!! Are you calling me old!! LOL It just cracks me up everytime I go to the doctor and they mark my sheet "high risk" because of my "advanced maternal age."

I had my first two months before I turned 30, I was 32 with my second.

I have a nephew who had his first child at 16 so when he is 40 their younger child will be finished with college. Now that blows my mind. I will be forty and the babes will all be in grade school and preschool.

LOL BUT, would I have not had dd cause of that? NO way!!!!
This is the way it is for me too... When my oldest dd was in school I was pretty much the same ages as they were but now with my youngest... there are still a few mom's that you see that are pregnant and a lot that are a lot younger than I am. I've also seen some that look/act a lot older than me too so... I guess as long as I'm not the oldest, that's okay.

I was just thinking about one of my friends in high school who had a baby when she was l4... I couldn't even imagine having a child who would be 34 years old like her's would be now. That would definitely make me feel old. LOL
