Question Would you have plastic surgery?

I know we've discussed this before, but if it came down to it - would you actually do it?

Someone close to me is going in for a consultation for breast augmentation. It is just blowing me away that at close to 40 and with 3 kids that is a priority ~ not only for the financial cost when it will ultimately take away from their kids/family, but also the whole vanity issue. Her dh is completely fine with her the way she is and in order for her to go thru with this they'd have to take out a loan.

I just don't think I could justify it and I know it's her decision, but I just don't get it. Am I alone? Would you do it?

I don't think so...mostly because I'd be afraid that something would go wrong. The only thing I might consider (and this isn't plastic surgery) is "lasik"/vision correction stuff. Right now it's not an option for me because of some eye problems I have...however, I'd think about it if it were.

I don't really think so. Would like bigger boobs, cause some are better than none, but I can get the look with a good bra and falsies. LOL. My cousin got new boobs a year ago and maxed out her credit card to do it. I thought it was unwise, but her body, her money.

I'm pretty pleased with my looks at my age - not too many wrinkles. I have thought I might try botox should the need ever arise.

I would never do it. And I'm small small chested. Especially if I had to take out a loan!!! How about a college fund instead????

Just have her watch the discover health channel when they have plastic surgery shows. I'd never want anything done after watching that show.

My sister has a friend who had it done and she says they get cold when she goes outside in cold weather. No thank you.

I agree with you one this one. After having seen some of the stuff that they do to you... NO WAY! If I was very large chested I might get a reduction if I was having back/neck/shoulder problems, just to ease the pain. But other than that NO! I wouldn't even have lasik, just because I'd be afraid they'd mess up and I'd be blind or something like that.

I have watched some of those too...No thanks...although I will say I have a few skin tags appearing under my eye...and am thinking of having them removed....not really surgery....but...I am considering that....

I am happy for the most part with my appearance....although the magic tummy tuck (-30 pounds) would be nice....I couldn't have surgery for this....liposuction or tummy tuck....just too much of a wimp...and too poor...

ITA about the college fund, especially when she is always claiming to be "poor".

I told her I have seen those shows and that it is very painful - she doesn't care. She sent me a few links supporting the surgery and claims of it being so amazing.

LOL about them getting cold when the gal goes outside! Can't wait to pass that info on!!!

Thank goodness for the smilie - think I used it enough in this post! ROFL!

Not unless there was a medical reason for it...and even then I'd have to really think about it.

If we had money to spare I would do it. I'd never spend that kind of *me* money before making sure we had everything we needed, savings for retirement and college for the kids all taken care of.

I have watched some of those surgeries and try to avoid cold weather period! It's all a moot point since we're too poor!

I'm only 16 and I am already having back and shoulder problems. I've seriously considered a breast reduction in the future.

I am the way I am... the way God made me and who am I to change that? I'm way too cheap to spend my hard earned money that way anyway. There are always better places to spend it... paying off bills, the kids/college... whatever. I'd NEVER take out a loan either... I'd feel real selfish doing it.
